M For Mature – About Us
First we’d like to start off by saying “No! We are not a mature site in the terms of XXX…” This site has been formed by the forum staff over at
http://forums.qj.net in an attempt to form a website in which we can really focus on what is important in the community, you! No, I’m not trying to get on your good side, nor are we trying to impress you. Quick Journal (QJ) was a great experience for us all, however there was one prevailing problem that we all took notice of and to fix this problem we have come up with this solution [
**********.net].
One thing this site will stress is quality over quantity. As with many websites that currently focus on the gaming industry they often tend to focus on quantity more than quality. There are those few sites out there that actually don’t fit this description and we hope to be one of them as well. The staff here will not be paid, we will not beg you for premium membership fees, we will not surround you every second with advertisements and we will not shove your computer screen with news articles that do not interest you. One of the greatest problems with a paid staff is that they try to force themselves to write up articles in an attempt to earn their pay. As a result the hired bloggers start creating articles of little importance and in which they have little knowledge of just to bring home the bacon.
So we are here now to serve you, the users, the community and most importantly our friends (yes, you are all 3 of those). We will be reachable, we will be negotiable and we will be approachable.
What do we offer?
Open Forums:
The QJ.net forums’ guidelines were restrictive to the userbase and possibly made them post or not post based off of the fear they had of being banned. I’m not trying to say that we won’t ban here, but we will have more relaxed policies than our “former self” (QJ). The common decency rules will still apply, so please respect each other and you will earn respect in return. We hope to form a more mature community in which we can openly discuss our favorite topics (gaming, homebrew, computers, consumer electronics, etc.) and fully express ourselves.
Quality News
This is one thing we cannot stress enough. The front end of our site - the blog - will be based on news quality, not news quantity. We all know you like to hear something new in the industry as soon as it happens and we will do that to the best of our ability. We know everyone hates news shortages (think: weekends) so our blog will be featuring news 7 days a week, 365 days a year (that’s our goal). This is going to be a large task for us and all we ask in return is your support!
News that is important to you!
As was stated earlier we will be reachable, so please e-mail us with what you would like us to cover in our news. Do you like screenshots (I’m not a fan)? Do you like gameplay videos? (hell yeah!) Do you like rumors? (of course!) So please e-mail us with your suggestions on what you would like to see, what you wouldn’t like to see and we will consider each recommendation. This site is made with you in mind, not for us to make a profit (right now we are paying out of our own pockets for all the costs).
Exclusives?
We will attempt to provide our readers with exclusive interviews, news, homebrew releases and previews/reviews. We don’t want to be a site that will just copy and paste content from other sites, we want to go straight to the source and post content that is meaningful to you!
